He also participated in the 7th Annual International Conference on Public Administration hosted by UESTC. It was attended by over 300 people from 30 countries. Dr. Walkington moderated two sessions: 1) Management Problems, and 2)Ethical Leadership.

Dr. Walkington first began traveling to China in 2005. He was a member of a delegation from the American Society of Public Administration that participated in the first International Conference on Public Administration (ICPA) co-sponsored by American Society of Public Administration, Public Administration Society of China and the School of Public Administration.

At the same time he visited a number of local governments and presented at several universities. In 2009, Dr. Walkington was appointed Adjunct Professor of Public Administration at the University of Electronic Science and Technology, China (UESTC), School of Political Science and Public Administration Chengdu, PR China.

During his first visit to China in October 2005, Tom was taken to a rural village north of Beijing where he was shown the village school. The school was in bad condition and the village was seeking assistance to help rebuild. Before leaving the village he offered his assistance to help rebuild the school. When he next visited the village in 2007 he was taken to the school to see the progress of the rebuilding effort and participate in a dedication ceremony. To Tom’s surprise the rebuilding of the school was dedicated to him. Tom continues to support the school in any way that he can. Click here to see pictures of the village and the school. He will be visiting the village again in September 2010 when he returns to teach at the University of Electronic Science and Technology China in Chengdu. His topics include:
