“ …Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!...”

-Lewis Caroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865)

“Communication is a core competency of any business. It starts with the CEO.”

  -Scott  McNeally

Communicate, Communicate, Communicate

Clear communication is always needed, and in situations where lasting whole system change is desired, communication must be strategic, clear, focused, and concise.  Communication is one element of an organization that is often taken for granted because communication takes place in so many ways and so frequently. Communication is much more than simply creating awareness. It is a way to create the effects and results needed to achieve results. It is a key tool driving the success of the organization.

Strategic Communications facilitates alignment among the organization’s work groups, departments, divisions and stakeholders with its overarching goals and objectives. It is about deliberately engineering plans, tactics and messages to help improve the organization’s performance and attainment of its desired results.

Strategic Communications is the process of providing information with the aim of achieving a shared mission, vision and goals based on organizational values and principles. The fundamental purpose of Strategic Communications in an organization is to enable and energize employees to carry out its strategic intent. It provides the capability to rapidly identify, send, receive and understand strategic information that is credible, sensible, and relevant.

When leading a team, good communication skills are vital. In fact, good communication is central to most of the important functions a manager performs— aligning everyone in the organization with the strategic direction, monitoring progress, receiving early warning of problems, promoting collaboration and encouraging team involvement.

New Strategic Directions works with senior leadership to:

  • Identify venues for communicating the organization’s strategic direction, priorities and initiatives leading to the desired results.
  • Identify appropriate media for effective communications.
  • Communicate the organization’s strategy.
  • Communicate Its progress and performance to policy makers, stakeholders, employees and citizens.
